Quick answer
Ascension merges compatible duplicates into a stronger copy of the same troop. The September 19 guide reports that both inputs must match in unit and Ascension tier; evolution instead changes the troop’s form.

Find Ascension and choose the right copies
The cited guide locates Ascension at the blue-leaved tree across from Summons and describes E as the PC interaction. Follow the current prompt on your device if the lobby or controls have changed. Use the ordinary manual merge screen; a paid bulk action is a different choice.
- Open the selected unit’s card and note its name, Ascension tier and any progression you want to preserve.
- At Ascension, select the intended troop in the first input.
- Choose a duplicate of the same troop at the same Ascension tier in the second input.
- Read the result preview, cost and consumption warning before confirming.
- Confirm only when both inputs are correct, then check the remaining unit’s new Ascension label and collection count.
How matching tiers change the copy budget
| Target, under the reported merge rule | Inputs for that merge | Base copies if starting from zero |
|---|---|---|
| Ascension 1 | 2 base copies | 2 |
| Ascension 2 | 2 Ascension 1 copies | 4 |
| Ascension 3 | 2 Ascension 2 copies | 8 |
These totals are arithmetic from the published two-input rule, not a summon guarantee or a measured cost. The source reports Ascension 3 as its September cap. Confirm the live cap and compatible inputs instead of treating an older guide as a permanent limit.
One Ascension 1 copy and one base copy are not a matching pair under that rule. Save the unmatched base copy for another compatible merge rather than trying a different unit or assuming a paid button removes the requirement.
Ascension, evolution and Skill Trees
Ascension strengthens a copy without giving it a new troop identity. Mastery is the unit progression used for the reported evolution gate. Skill Trees spend Skill Crystals on nodes; those crystals are not duplicate troops.
The September report describes the manual merge as Gem-free and affecting health, damage and rush damage rather than speed or range. These are dated reported rules. If the current menu shows a charge, stop and identify whether you selected another action before accepting it.
Protect the troops you still need
Review Auto Delete before summoning more copies. Keep the selected unit and any copies needed for its next merge. Merging consumes the inputs, so an extra fieldable copy may be more useful than a marginal upgrade when your current plan depends on it.
Do not infer that every upgrade survives evolution. Read the transformation warning and inspect the result. The cited material does not establish a universal carry-over policy for all October additions, and this site has not tested it.
If the merge does not work
| Problem | Next check |
|---|---|
| Second copy cannot be selected | Compare exact unit identity and Ascension tier. |
| Expected copy is absent | Review collection filters and Auto Delete history or settings. |
| Result would consume a valuable copy | Cancel, then choose another input or keep the current army. |
| Stats differ from a guide | Compare unit level, Ascension and Skill Tree state before calling it a balance change. |
A summon rarity star and an Ascension label describe different things. Keep a note of both when comparing two cards or asking why the menu rejects an input.
