The match loop
Command An Army is a Roblox strategy game in which you fight as a commander while directing a squad of troops. The official game description summarizes the core loop as recruiting troops, ordering formations, and capturing points on either the attacking or defending side.
A match is easiest to understand as four repeating decisions: choose where your army should be, select the order that matches that job, help your troops as the commander, and reassess when an objective changes hands. Winning is less about pressing every command quickly and more about giving one clear order at the right moment.
Before you deploy
- Pick a player class. Assassin favors mobility, Sword & Shield favors safety, and Hammer favors close-range pressure. Your class changes how your commander fights; it does not turn every troop into that class.
- Fill the available Star Limit. Units cost stars, so the goal is not simply four rare units. Build a legal loadout that covers a frontline, protected damage, and a way to respond to movement.
- Choose Attack or Defend. Attackers must keep momentum toward objectives. Defenders should trade space carefully and make the enemy fight through prepared positions.
- Check the objective path. Before charging, identify the next point and the route your whole squad can take.
Use the four troop orders
| Order | What it does | Best moment |
|---|---|---|
| Follow | Keeps the squad moving with your commander. | Traveling, regrouping, or changing lanes. |
| Hold | Leaves troops defending the position you choose. | Protecting a capture point or anchoring a choke. |
| Attack | Sends the squad toward the active enemy or objective. | When your army is assembled and ready to commit. |
| Rush | Trades safety for a burst of speed and aggression. | Closing a short gap or exploiting a broken defense. |
The interface can move or change across devices and updates, so use the labels shown in your current game rather than memorizing an old screenshot. Read our controls guide for decision examples.
Capture points in sequence
Objectives commonly progress through Point A, Point B, and the Base. Treat each point as a new battle. After capturing one, use Follow to regroup before the next push. On defense, Hold near cover or a choke so ranged troops can work behind a durable front.
Your commander matters, but do not sprint so far ahead that your troops arrive one by one. A coordinated arrival creates more pressure than four isolated units. If your front collapses, pull the surviving army together rather than feeding the objective.
Improve after every match
- If the frontline disappears first, add durability or stop using Rush into prepared enemies.
- If your frontline survives but nothing falls, protect more ranged pressure.
- If every fight starts without you, add mobility or use Follow earlier.
- If the loadout will not equip, review its total Star Limit instead of removing units at random.
Use the army builder to spot role gaps, then compare options in the all-units guide. Rarity is useful information, but a cheaper unit that completes the formation may be the better choice.
Quick answers
Do I control every unit separately?
No. You lead a squad with group orders such as Follow, Hold, Attack, and Rush.
Which class should a beginner use?
Sword & Shield is the forgiving editorial recommendation because it gives the commander room to learn positioning. Choose another class if its play style feels clearer to you.
Where should I verify changed mechanics?
Use the current in-game interface and the official Roblox game page. This independent guide is updated as public information changes.
