Spear unit comparison

Three related names cover different jobs; choose by formation need, not by label alone. Use the formation rules below as a repeatable test, then confirm current unit details in the live game.

The useful distinction

Spear Militia, Halberder, and Javelineer are frequently grouped because of their weapon family and update timing. For formation planning, separate them by battlefield job: early spear presence, heavier anti-frontline pressure, and ranged spear pressure. The exact live values should come from the game UI, but role differences are enough to make a better upgrade choice.

Side-by-side roles

UnitFormation questionBest fit
Spear MilitiaDo I need an accessible line holder?Early balanced squads
HalberderDo I need heavier close pressure?Frontline-focused counters
JavelineerDo I need reach behind protection?Layered ranged formations

Choose the missing job

Do not upgrade solely because one option sounds more advanced. If your formation already has a durable frontline, another close-range slot may create congestion. If it already has protected damage but no stable first contact, a ranged addition may worsen the actual weakness. Use the four-slot builder and fill the missing job.

Counter each shape

Against a spear-heavy line, avoid meeting all its units in the same narrow lane. Against a Javelineer-style backline, shorten its safe firing time with mobility or angled pressure. Against a mixed spear formation, remove support first only when your own frontline can survive the delay.
